Theatre On Ice provides skaters with opportunities to
- Increase competition experience
- Develop performance and dramatic presentation skills
- Be part of a team
- Improve technical skills
- Make friends and share their enthusiasm for skating with others
New This Year
With interest for Theatre on Ice (TOI) growing, Yarmouth Ice Theatre hopes to field skaters for 4 teams, providing club and non-club members of all abilities a chance to participate on a team.
As our program grows, so must our coaching staff! This year, Amanda DeAguila will become our Theatre On Ice Program Director. In addition to coaching her veteran team at the Bog, Amanda will work with our dedicated TOI coaching team to develop programs and oversee TOI operations. We are pleased to welcome back Wally Lang and also welcome Debbie Minahan, Karen Lehman and Maddie Wunder to our TOI family.
This season, U.S. Figure Skating has selected Hyannis, Massachusetts as the site of the 2015 National Theatre On Ice competition. The event will be hosted by our own Yarmouth Ice Club and will take place at the Hyannis Youth and Community Center, June 18-22, 2015. The opportunity to compete at the National competition in our own backyard is yet another reason to participate this season!
In addition to competing at the National competition, our teams will also showcase their programs at Yarmouth Ice Club exhibition shows, compete at our 2nd annual Spotlights on Ice competition at The Bog and participate in a critique held in Burlington, Vermont in the spring.
2015 Yarmouth Ice Theatre Company Team Opportunities
Our “veteran” team practices at The Bog and has competed for the past two years. We have skaters returning but are also looking for additional skaters to round out the team. Amanda DeAguila will coach with support from Debbie Minahan and Wally Lang. Practices will be held on Sunday mornings at 9:40 AM beginning September
Due to the growing interest of TOI with our younger skaters looking for more opportunity to skate, we will introduce a preliminary team this year. The team will practice on the mini-rink at the Bog on Monday afternoons at 4:40 PM beginning September. Amanda DeAguila and Karen Lehman will coach the preliminary team.
The Tony Kent Arena will hold practice for a Novice level team beginning September. Many of the skaters from the Open team from last year will have the opportunity to compete on this team for the 2015 season. Amanda DeAguila, assisted by Maddie Wunder, will coach the Novice team.
Several of our adult skaters (and coaches) have expressed and interest in forming an Adult team to compete at Nationals. This team will practice at the Tony Kent arena on Sunday afternoons and beginning in January 2015. Amanda DeAguila will not only coach but also participate as a member of the adult team.
