Skating Achievements

I am the 2005 New England Regional Senior Men Champion and placed as an alternate in the Eastern Sectional Championships. I have competed in the Regional and Sectional championships for the last 5 years. In addition to my skating achievements in America, I was the Scottish Champion from Beginner through Senior and have competed in many national events in the United Kingdom. I was the Scottish Team Captain for home internationals against England.

I have skated on an adult Theatre on Ice team for the past 3 seasons, and am looking to begin a Novice level team with YIC. If you have any interest in this visit the clubs’ TOI webpage.

I have been nominated for the past several years by my YIC as a representative to the NEICC and US Figure Skating’s Governing Council. I currently serve on the Test Committee and am beginning my second term as Vice Chair of Program Development for High School Programs. I am also the President of NEICC. I directed Silver Blades’ Basic Skills program, covering Tots, Basics, advanced Freestyle and Pairs for 5 years. I have been asked to present at locally organized PSA functions on the IJS, and ran the 2009 New England Regional coaches meeting.

I participated in the opening of the 2001 US National Championships with the Boston Ice Theater, as well as several years of opening the Frog Pond in Boston.

In 2009 I was invited to be a guest on-ice speaker at the ISI Annual Conference in Orlando, FL covering Pairs and Couples skating.

I operate IceAudio which edits and creates unique music for skaters of all levels, from Beginner through International. I have also had my music used for several ice shows.

Scholastic Achievements

Outside of skating I have a B.Sc (Hons) in Chemistry with Information Technology and Instrumentation from Glasgow Caledonian University. At college and high school, I was heavily involved in many extra curricular activities including student-staff council in college, and the music department in high school.

Goals

I teach all levels of Freestyle and Moves in the Field, along with beginner level Pairs, from pre-school through adult. I also choreograph the majority of my own programs along with all my students programs. My goals in teaching are to better the individual and not just teach them how to skate. I encourage my students to learn what they are doing, instead of relying on me to teach them. I feel that this approach creates a better individual who is better suited to life when they graduate from school.
